Good News youth is made up of awesomely cool guys and girls over the age of 13 years who want to get together for an absolute blast. We see the importance of 3 things in our lives which will ultimately cause all of us to be "FED UP". Let me explain. As young people, one of the important issues in life is friendship. Having friends and being accepted by our peers. Our youth group is used to build friendships and give opportunity for youth to find a social life in a safe friendly environment. That's the "F" in fed up - FRIENDSHIP.
The "E" stands for ENCOUNTER, or experience. Our generation like to experience things, not just hear or read about them. GNY is a place where we youth can experience God. The existence of God is a no brainer, let's not argue about whether there is or isn't a God, let's create an opportunity and environment for Him to show Himself to be real and for us to experience the love and grace of God. The
"D" is DISCIPLESHIP. Once we experience God we need to know more about
Him. Through study and discussion we tackle issues that we are faced with
to find God's view in order to bring life change. If this is being accomplished
then we'll eventually be completely "FED UP" with God.
Not a lot happens without the Leaders committing themselves to achieving what God has planned, not only for their own lives, but also for those they are leading. GNY has a dedicated team who love to see lives impacted by the Good News that brings life change to those who accept it. These people have taken scripture literally and are caring for the interests of others, as well as their own. Kepa, on the left, has been involved with Good News now for 2 years. He's leading the youth group, playing the guitar in the band, and committed to good sound doctrine. Kepa is doing a computer networking course and is looking to have a career in the IT industry. Koia, she's the next one along, just oozes with talent. She's our keyboard player, singer, worship leader, youth leader and life of the party. Koia was the Director of New Generation Auckland which is the youth movement of the Assemblies of God in New Zealand. Melissa, she's the one with the beautiful strawberry blonde hair. Melissa keeps us all focused, she's certainly someone who knows where she wants to go. Her life displays not only commitment to church life, but also to the things of God. Eddie, he's the muscle on the end. Eddie is married to Kuini and lives in Papatoetoe. He has done full time study at 2 bible colleges and is born to be an Evangelist.
